NEWARK, N.J. - In lieu of bringing Hall of Fame defenceman Scott Stevens out of retirement, New Jersey goalie Martin Brodeur knows another way to keep the New York Rangers out of his crease.
The Devils have to start playing defence, immediately.
The freewheeling Rangers can wrap their best-of-seven Eastern Conference quarter-final against the Devils on Friday night with a victory in Game 5 at the Prudential Center.

(Sports Network) - The New Jersey Devils will try to even their Eastern Conference quarterfinal series with the New York Rangers tonight, when they visit the rival Blueshirts for Game 4 at Madison Square Garden. You can catch the game live on TSN at 7pm et/4pm pt.
The fifth-seeded Rangers won the first two games of this best-of-seven series on the road, outscoring the Devils, 6-2, in the process. However, New Jersey rebounded with a Game 3 victory in the Big Apple to cut the series' deficit to 2-1.

NEW YORK - It was a bounce three games in the making for the New Jersey Devils.
Done in by a rare misplay by Martin Brodeur in the series opener against the New York Rangers and then another odd goal in Game 2, the Devils found themselves on the brink of a short playoff stay.
A feed in front and an ill-located skate gave New Jersey new life.
John Madden scored 6:01 into overtime for the Devils, who knocked off the Rangers 4-3 on Sunday night - cutting New York's series lead to 2-1.

Lately these Devils have had a penchant for the dramatic finish. Right now, they also have a knack for keeping themselves at the top of the Eastern Conference.
Zach Parise's second goal of the game broke a 1-1 tie with 48 seconds in regulation to lift the Devils to a 2-1 win over the Maple Leafs at Air Canada Centre on Saturday night.
Parise's hustle started the play, when he created a neutral-zone turnover on Matt Stajan. That led to Devils possession in Toronto territory.
