    The NHL is trying to crackdown on unnecessary blows to the head.

    The NHL's Senior Vice President and Director of Hockey Operations, Colin Campbell, had the following memo, obtained by TSN, posted in every NHL dressing room on Friday.

    "Recently, we have had two (2) supplemental discipline incidents involving direct elbow blows to the head. This is a play that we have been trying to remove from our game for a number of years. In one case there was no injury and in the other incident the elbowed Player received a concus

    General managers will have one extra day to make NHL trades. The league said yesterday it has pushed the trade deadline back to March 4. A high volume of games forced the switch. There are 12 games on the schedule March 3 and only two March 4. The league and NHL Players' Association agreed on the change.

    The Nashville Predators have agreed to a seven-year, $31.5 million contract with forward Martin Erat. Erat was due to become a restricted free agent.

    "Martin Erat is a perfect example of this organization's philosophy," Predators GM David Poile said in a statement.

    NASHVILLE, Tenn. - The Nashville Predators say their difficult season has made them stronger. They now have what might be their final chance to prove that's true.

    They return home for Game 6 on Sunday with the Detroit Red Wings ready to close out this opening series and move on to the Western Conference semifinals.     NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Dan Hamhuis and Shea Weber scored in 32-second span in the first period, and the Nashville Predators evened their first-round Western Conference playoff series against the Detroit Red Wings with a 3-2 victory in Game 4 on Wednesday night.
